The Digital Age of Learning

I Had to leave to Find Myself

This weekend I co-hosted an event with some close friends. Our goal was to bring together some colleagues and create connections organically. As we started introductions and sharing our backgrounds, one friend referenced her experience in changing jobs away from an organization she worked within for nearly 3 decades. She transitioned into a new position and said she had to leave her old work life in order to “find herself”. She now feels more balanced in her views about wellness and personal boundaries. I was struck by her words because I related to it completely. My thoughts immediately went back to a version of myself from a few years ago, when I too was trying to find myself.

My profession has revolved around education for the last 25 years. As a unit, my school district had survived the COVID shutdown by experimenting with remote learning and new digital tools like never before. I saw the possibilities and was hopeful that impactful changes would emerge. It didn’t happen. Returning to the classrooms post-COVID meant returning to teaching practices that were centuries old. All that we had developed for a new digital age was cleanly wiped away. I grew bitter and restless. Something was pulling me in a different direction, but I could not clearly identify what it was pulling me towards. Fast forward a few years and that pull has landed me here, founding a new business and continuing my support for digital age learning.

Maybe you too are feeling the same pull. You know you are meant to do something more, but your fear of the unknown is holding back and keeping you too safe. You might be a master of your craft, but the work has grown stale. You are curious about what else might be out there, but unsure if your skill set would transfer into success somewhere new. If that something new involves moving some practices online, I can help you with that. Sure, you can click on a Zoom link and hope for the best. But a better solution would be having guidance from a professional that makes you show up confident and in control. Your best next step is to
grab a copy of my free ebook to get the cheat sheet you need to command the virtual space as great as you command the in-person space. From there you will gain new ideas of where to go next. The restlessness you are feeling just might be your unlimited potential waiting to be unlocked.
